SUMMARY:Mulder and Scully enjoy an evening off from work. -------------------------------------- GREAT EVENING OF DESIRE Written by: Erin M. Blair -------------------------------------- It was a Friday evening. Scully was typing up a report for a recent case. There was so much typing that she needed to do and she wondered when it would all get done. She still felt the pain in her heart. She still felt the emptiness of her heart. She knew the wound from Emily's death haven't healed. She tried to put on a brave face in front of her peers, not even Mulder knew the depth of the sorrow and the tears. Every day she pulled out her only picture of her daughter. She loved looking at her Emily, seeing how happy she was in front of the camera, standing prettily with a bright smile spread across her face. It was a picture from Emily's birthday, a birthday she'd never got to witness. She frowned, wishing that she could have been the one to raise her own daughter. She wondered if the pain from Emily's death would ever heal. She heard a knock at the door. "Who is it?" She heard Mulder yell out his name and then she looked through the peephole. Sure enough, it was Mulder standing outside her door. Her eyes narrowed in wonderment as she opened the door. She was surprised to see him standing there -- they didn't usually socialize after work together. They cared about each other, yes, but socialize? Never. "Mulder, what are you doing here? I'm so surprised -- " Mulder interrupted her. "I was in the neighborhood. I wanted to see how you were doing. After Emily died, I was scared that you might shut me out of your life. I loved her too. I thought of her as my daughter." "That's so sweet of you, Mulder. I -- You never want to socialize. I'm kind of shocked, really." "After Emily, well...I thought you needed a friend." "Thanks. Why don't you come in?" Scully led Mulder into her apartment. It was almost six o'clock in the evening. Scully gathered from looking at how haggard Mulder was that the traffic to her apartment was heavy. "Thanks, Scully." "Is there anything wrong?" asked Scully. "Nothing's wrong," said Mulder. "I just wanted to see you. I care...so much about you." "You do?" "You mean I don't show it much?" inquired Mulder. He looked at Scully -- she did look a bit saddened. "After your cancer, after Emily, after what happened in the hallway, I thought you knew." "I wasn't sure of your feelings towards me," said Scully. She gave him a tender smile. "You're a hard one to figure out, Mulder." "I am?" Scully nodded. "Yes." "In what way?" "Well, you never tell me about past loves, except for when they walk back into your life." She paused. "It makes me feel unimportant, like I'm just an afterthought." "But you're not, Scully." "Am I really?" "Let's not fight. I don't talk about past loves because they hurt me so much. Phoebe and Diana betrayed me so much that I can feel the pain to this very day. You...are...special to me. I know I don't often say it, but I do mean it." He paused as he looked into her blue eyes, like deep pools of water. He wanted to drown into her gorgeous, wet eyes. He loved her so much, so much that he wanted to be with her night and day. "I'm in love with you, Scully." "You are?" "Yes - I'm in love with you. Do you want to me to rent a sky writer to show how much I love you?" Scully laughed. It was her first laugh ever since she could remember. "No, you don't have to do that." She could feel a bright smile spreading across her face. The light lifted up her feelings. She knew she was happy. This was the first time the darkness had left her body. She knew she was being moody over the loss of Emily, her ova, and almost her health. However, she was always happy with Mulder. "You don't know how happy you made me just now." They both settled down on her sofa, leaning closer and closer for more kissing. The heat passed between them. There was an erotic air around their auras. Their passion was burning bright, like a flame of love. They both had taken off their clothes, and their kisses deepened with red hot desire. They wanted each other right then and there. "Bedroom," she murmured into his ear. "Let's move this to the bedroom." She kissed him on the lips. She paused, reflecting over their conversation. She decided to wait and ask him later. It wasn't a good time. Without another word, they began to finally make love on her bed. "Mulder..." "What?" he asked as he showered her with kisses. "I'll tell you later." *** Afterwards, in the afterglow of their making the most passionate love, Mulder looked into her luminous blue eyes. "I'm so happy, Scully. You've made me the happiest man alive." "I did?" She looked at him with longing even though she had felt the heat of their passion. It wasn't so long ago that they'd made the deepest kisses and had the heated embraces. She briefly closed her eyes as she remembered the slight pain she'd felt when he pressed his cock into her. "Yes, you did." He paused. "Are you OK? I hope I didn't hurt you." "No, no, no. You didn't hurt me. It's what I wanted, Mulder. I wanted you to make love to me." "I'm glad we made love," said Mulder. "Scully?" "For the first time, I feel alive." "I'm glad," he said as he kissed her on the lips. The warmth between them felt right, felt good to the touch. He was so happy that he was with her in his arms. "Scully, is there anything you want to ask me?" "No...no, I guess I've forgotten it." "I guess it wasn't important, Scully. You know what?" "What?" "You are so important to me." Scully smiled at him. "I feel the same way." She paused and then continued. "I feel like we opened new doors to our relationship, Mulder. I feel stronger, that we can face anything that comes our way. For the first time since before my abduction, I feel alive. You brought the woman back to me." "I feel the same way about us, Scully. I'm so happy to be with you. I'll never forget this moment," said Mulder. He felt the warmth of her body next to his; he leaned in to kiss her on the neck and then on the lips. "I love you." "I know," she said as she kissed him back. -- the end -- Feedback: Much appreciated. The original idea was still there, but I wanted it to leave it implied that Mulder and Scully have, indeed, consummated their relationship. I would like to thank my beta reader, Jen, for beta reading this fic. This story went through several versions before we were both satisfied with it. ~Erin M. Blair July 5. 2005
