Summary: Scully reflects upon her remission from cancer in a letter to Mulder. --------------------------------------------------- IF I DIE... Written by: Erin M. Blair --------------------------------------------------- Dana Scully's hospital room Washington DC November 1997 Dear Mulder, I'm sitting here in my hospital room after hearing the news. You found the chip which probably cured my cancer for that I'm truly grateful. I have some good news to tell you. I know you'll be here soon, but I have to tell you now: I'm in remission! Yes, you heard right. I'm going to live for a long, long time. What worried me, deeply, was how would have my death affected you. I know how my death would have affected my family. That's a no brainer. But you-- what would your reaction be if I had died? I know how much you care for me, Mulder. I'd seen the warmth in your hazel eyes. The way you kissed my hand...the way you touched me with your touch. I feel the same way about you. I don't care what Melissa Ephresian had said that you're her soulmate. This lifetime, you _are_ my soulmate as I know I am yours. I love you, Mulder. I had loved you ever since the first day in your...our office...when you thought I'd come to spy on you. If I had died, you would have grieved for me as if you'd lost half your heart. I felt the same for you when you almost died in Alaska. I don't know what I would had done if you died. I would have lost my heart in the process. I guess that we're both lucky to have one another. Yours, Dana Scully -- End of Vignette Author's Note: This story was written last year, and it's my first story posted at Gossamer. This story isn't part of any series; it's just a stand alone story regarding Scully's thoughts from Redux II. Since the passing of a beloved online friend, Samantha, I decided to revisit this vignette in a tribute to her. I would appreciate any feedback regarding this story. Dedication: I dedicate this story to Gillian Anderson whose fine portrayal of Dana Scully brings so much to the role. I also dedicate this story to my fellow shippers. Special Dedication: I dedicate this story to Samantha who passed away from leukemia. I'll always miss you, Sam.
