However, little four year old Katherine 
Scully is mine. 
Author's Note: This little vignette is set in 
"Discovery" universe, and all you need to know
that Scully had a daughter named Katherine born
in 1989. Katherine's father is Mulder,
but he doesn't know that...yet. This story is set
when Katherine's four years old, and this is during
the time when Scully was missing.

Summary: Katherine wonders why her mommy is
missing, and who is that nice man that came
over to visit her grandma.

THE NICE MAN

I don't know why, but my Mommy is missing. She 
hadn't seen me for awhile, and I don't know 
where she's missing. I don't even *know* where
she is. No one wants to tell me the truth.

Where's my Mommy? 

No one seems to have an answer to my 
questions. I feel that they are keeping
something from me. 

Something bad happened to my Mommy. I
just *know* it! 

A nice man was visiting my Grandma today,
and I could hear them talking about my Mommy.
He saw me walking in, and he smiled at me. "Hi
there. Who're you?"

"Katherine Scully," I said. I gave him a sweet
smile. "Do you know my Mommy?" 

He looked at my Grandma, and she smiled at
me.

"That's Dana's daughter," Grandma said, as
she looked at his shocked reaction. 

"Scully's daughter? She never told me anything
about having a little girl." He paused. "When 
did this happen?"

"I'm four," I said, very innocently. 

I could tell that he's shocked to learn
that "his" Scully has a daughter. Me. I
guess my Mommy never told him about me
as she never told me who's my Daddy. 

I never knew my Daddy. I know that I have
a Daddy. Everyone has a Daddy, but Mommy
won't tell me who it is. She did tell me
that I have her red hair, but she said that
I got my hazel eyes from my Daddy. 

The nice man has hazel eyes. Could he be??
Is he my Daddy? 

I don't know, but it could be true... If it's
true, how come he was surprised when he saw me?

Unless they want to keep it a secret? 

I don't know. 

Although this was the first time that I had met
this nice man, but I had seen them together. They 
didn't know that I was watching, but I was. 

It would explain everything between my Mommy and
this nice man.

Mommy always thought that I was in bed or playing
with my toys in my bedroom, but I had seen things.

The way he protected her from harm... 

The way he cares about her... 

It doesn't take an idiot to know how much 
they like each other. No. They *love* each
other. 

They tell me that I don't understand because
I'm a little girl. The truth is that I do
know. 

I do know this: When my Mommy comes back, I'm
going to see a lot more of this nice man... 

And I'll have a Daddy at last...
